Louise Hayes is an experienced health information manager and health informatician working in the e-health space of Queensland Health, implementing an electronic medical record solution into public hospitals across Queensland, Australia.
As a Program Director in the ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record) Program, Louise works with frontline clinicians to help them to better capture, use and manage the data and information in the eMR; and share the knowledge of how to unleash the power of the data to better care for our patients.
Qualifying as a CHIA (Certified Health Informatician Australiasia) in 2014 as one of Australia’s inaugural certified practitioners has confirmed her passion and growth into the informatics profession and this is demonstrated through her many commitments of mentoring, lecturing, presenting at conferences and workshops writing articles.
Outside of the hospitals you are most likely to find Louise in the kitchen cooking something fabulous or indulging in good food and wine at a great restaurant.
Health Informatics is so important to Louise’s career and work life. Watching a clinician’s lightbulb moment when they realise the power of clinical information; whether it is smart decision support in the user interface of an electronic system, or how they can harness the benefits of a clinical terminology such as SNOMED CT in their reporting data – is what gets Louise out of bed each day.
